Indian High Commission urges visa applicants to be patient
After a two-year suspension, India has resumed tourist visas for Bangladeshi citizens. The high commission in Dhaka has urged applicants to be patient and cooperative, as the service has received an overwhelming number of applications since its reopening.
In a message on Friday, July 3, the high commission said it has been encouraged by the response from Bangladeshis wishing to travel to India for various purposes. It is working to further expand visa services and make the application process easier, faster and more convenient.
The high commission expressed gratitude for the applicants' patience and cooperation, and said necessary measures are being taken to handle the surge in applications.
India resumed tourist visa services for Bangladeshis on June 28 after nearly two years. Within just 24 hours, over 1.4 lakh applications were submitted across Indian visa application centres nationwide, creating large crowds at centres including the one at Jamuna Future Park in the capital.
The high commission also said it is committed to further strengthening people-to-people ties and the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and India.
