Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi meets Foreign Minister
Dinesh Trivedi, the Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka, has paid courtesy calls on Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam, nearly a month after assuming office.
He arrived at the foreign ministry around 4pm on Wednesday (July 29). He first met with State Minister Shama Obaid Islam, followed by a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman.
In April this year, the Indian government appointed former federal minister Dinesh Trivedi as the 16th High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh. This is the first time in the history of Bangladesh-India diplomatic relations that a politician has been appointed as High Commissioner in Dhaka.
Trivedi arrived in Bangladesh by land via West Bengal on June 5 to take up his new assignment. He formally assumed office on June 25 after presenting his credentials to the then President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
