Indian high commissioner paid courtesy call on PM
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today (April 6).
The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office at the Bangladesh Secretariat, a press release from the prime minister's office (PMO) said.
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir were present at the meeting.
According to Prime Minister’s Adviser Humayun Kabir, the discussion covered bilateral issues, including diesel imports via pipeline from India.
Kabir emphasised that the government aims to strengthen ties with India and maintain positive relations between the peoples of both countries, noting that constructive relations help resolve various challenges.
He also highlighted a clear departure from past leadership, saying, “The relationship that existed under Sheikh Hasina will not continue.”
Separately, Kabir mentioned that Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman will travel to India on Tuesday to participate in the Indian Ocean Conference, where he may hold talks with India’s Foreign and Security Ministers, addressing issues such as border killings and other matters of national interest.
