Inflation will take a year to reach manageable level: Governor
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur stated that reducing inflation to a manageable level will take at least one year.
He made this statement on Thursday (December 12) at a seminar organized by BRAC EPL in a hotel in Dhaka.
Dr Ahsan H Mansur said that inflation will require at least a year to stabilize. By June next year, inflation is expected to drop to 7%, and in the next fiscal year, it can be reduced to 5%.
Highlighting the country's economic situation, the Governor mentioned that there are no complications in opening LCs (Letters of Credit). He further added that in the past four months, expatriates have sent an additional $3 billion to Bangladesh, which is playing a vital role in maintaining economic stability.
Regarding the high prices of potatoes and onions, he explained that the floods in August and September disrupted timely production, leading to increased prices.
