Inqilab Mancha blocks Shahbagh in protest of Hadi's killing
Inqilab Mancha has blocked Shahbagh in the capital to protest the death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi in a shooting.
The organization's leaders and activists blocked the roads around Shahbagh with barricades at 10:30pm on Thursday.
During the blockade, the protesters chanted slogans including 'Who are you, Hadi Hadi', 'Delhi or Dhaka, Dhaka Dhaka', 'Naraye Takbir, Allahu Akbar', 'My brother is in the grave, why is the murderer outside?' and 'Inqilab Inqilab, Zindabad Zindabad'.
At that time, they demanded the immediate arrest and trial of those responsible for the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi. Inqilab Mancha leaders and activists also demanded the resignation of the Home Affairs Adviser.
Hadi was the spokesperson of Inqilab Manch and a potential candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency. Osman Hadi, who was riding a rickshaw, was shot dead by criminals from a moving motorcycle in the capital's Purana Paltan area on December 12.
He was seriously injured and admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka after undergoing surgery at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. From there, he was taken to Singapore for advanced treatment on Monday. He died while undergoing treatment.
