Inqilab Mancha vacates Shahbag ahead of Tarique Rahman’s grave visit

Inqilab Mancha has temporarily moved away from the Shahbag intersection ahead of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s scheduled visit to the grave of Osman Hadi.

According to the platform, Tarique Rahman is expected to visit Osman Hadi’s grave around 11:00am on Saturday (December 27). In view of the programme, Inqilab Mancha shifted its sit-in from Shahbag to in front of Aziz Super Market.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the group said it would return to the Shahid Hadi Square at Shahbag at 12:00pm to resume its demonstration, calling on people across the country to join the programme in demand of justice.

Meanwhile, BNP’s student wing Chhatra Dal gathered at the Shahbag intersection from the morning, chanting slogans and mobilising supporters. The group said they had assembled there to mark Tarique Rahman’s visit.

Law enforcement agencies were seen maintaining a heightened presence in the area.
