Interim government responsible for measles child deaths: DSCC administrator
Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam has held the interim government responsible for child deaths from measles.
He made the remark at an event organised at a restaurant on Elephant Road in the capital on Friday, May 22.
"The interim government ruined the city corporation in 18 months. I say that in 18 months, it has set Bangladesh back by 18 years. Children are dying from measles. Whose responsibility is this? It is theirs. They did not bring vaccines during that time," he said.
He also criticised the traffic congestion in Dhaka, the increase in the number of rickshaws and roads being blocked by hawkers. "Today, rickshaws cause traffic jams in Dhaka city. The number of rickshaws has increased after August 5. Roads have become overflowing," he said.
He also criticised opposition political forces, stating that the government has tried to do a lot of work in three months. Demands for a change of power through agitation against a government elected by the people are not realistic, he added.
Abdus Salam further said it is essential to bring discipline to the country's system; otherwise, urban and state management will become even more complicated.
