Investment and gas exploration in Bangladesh discussed with Chevron

Increasing Chevron’s investment in Bangladesh’s existing and older gas fields, as well as exploring new gas reserves, came up for discussion during a meeting between Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and a senior Chevron official today.

The discussion took place when a high-level Chevron delegation, led by Javier La Rosa, president of Chevron Corporation’s Base Assets and Emerging Countries Division, paid a courtesy call on the prime minister at his office in the Secretariat.

Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Shahadat Shadhin confirmed the development.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed investment in Bangladesh’s energy sector, with particular focus on increasing investment in existing and old gas fields and exploring new ones.

Prime Minister’s Adviser for Finance and Planning Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit, Chevron Bangladesh President and Managing Director Shu Xiong, and senior officials concerned were present at the meeting.
