IPL broadcast ban in Bangladesh remains in place: Information Ministry

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has protested confusion created by reports that the ban on broadcasting the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Bangladesh had been lifted. The ministry has clearly stated that the previous government's decision to ban IPL telecast remains in effect.

This was stated in a press release signed by the ministry's public relations officer Imranul Hasan on Saturday, March 28.

The release said reports published in various media, including a story titled 'Govt lifts bar on IPL telecast in Bangladesh' in the Daily Star, regarding the lifting of the IPL broadcast ban have come to the ministry's attention.

The ministry said the earlier decision to ban IPL telecast remains in effect. However, a letter has already been sent to the Ministry of Youth and Sports seeking its opinion on determining further action.

The release further stated that the next steps on this matter will be taken after receiving the opinion from the concerned ministry. The Information Ministry has also requested media outlets to urgently publish the protest letter to dispel the confusion.
