Iran has reportedly prepared missiles and other measures for potential attacks on US forces stationed in the Middle East, according to a report by The New York Times citing American officials.

The Iranian military is believed to be planning retaliatory strikes should the United States engage in military actions against Iran, particularly if it supports Israel’s strikes on Iranian targets.

Officials warned that a US strike on the Fordo nuclear facility, a crucial part of Iran’s nuclear program, could prompt Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in Yemen to target commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea — a tactic they have employed previously.

Meanwhile, Iran-backed militias operating in Iraq and Syria are expected to attempt attacks on US military bases within those countries.

In addition, the report suggests Iran could deploy explosive mines in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway at the entrance to the Persian Gulf, in an effort to control naval movements and restrict US forces.

The United States currently maintains tens of thousands of troops across the region, many within range of Iran’s missile bases.

This development underscores ongoing tensions in the region and the potential for escalation amid the complex geopolitical landscape.
