Irregularities in BSCMS management spark serious concern among members
The founding and general members of the Bangladesh Supply Chain Management Society (BSCMS) have raised serious concerns about persistent irregularities and a lack of transparency in the organization’s leadership and operations. In response to the ongoing issues, the permanent founding members convened an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Friday.
During the meeting, members alleged that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and executive committee elections were not held within the scheduled timeframe. This, they claimed, has led to a serious decline in transparency and accountability within the organization. Concerns were also raised about inadequate communication and the withholding of critical information, which members believe violates the organization’s ethical standards.
According to the general members, the current leadership has continued to hold office beyond the end of its official term without initiating a proper election. They allege that the committee was restructured by appointing preferred individuals, ignoring any formal electoral process. This, they believe, has weakened the governance system and led to a serious erosion of trust among members.
A unanimous resolution was passed at the meeting, calling for an immediate halt to all activities of the current committee and the initiation of a democratic process to elect new leadership.
The founding and permanent members stressed the need to restructure BSCMS into a transparent, democratic, and independent platform, free from personal influence.
