Jahangirnagar University sets JUCSU election for September 11
Jahangirnagar University has officially set the date for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) election on September 11, alongside elections for student unions in 21 residential halls.
The election schedule was announced Sunday at 3:30 PM in the university’s Senate Hall by Prof. AKM Rashidul Alam, Proctor and Member Secretary of the JUCSU Election Commission.
Key dates include the publication of the draft voter list and code of conduct on August 10, with final versions released on August 17. Nomination papers can be collected and submitted on August 18 and 19 from 9 AM to 4 PM. The preliminary candidate list will be published on August 25, followed by appeal hearings on August 27. The withdrawal deadline is August 28, with the final candidate list published on August 29.
Campaigning will begin on August 29 at 4 PM and continue until midnight on September 9. Voting will be held from 9 AM to 5 PM on September 11, with counting starting at 7 PM and results updated every two hours.
Prof. Alam assured that police, army, and Border Guard Bangladesh personnel will support security efforts to ensure a fair election. He also noted that students whose enrollment has expired must vacate residential halls before the polls.
