Jahangirnagar University student found dead in Savar flat

The bloodied body of a female student from Jahangirnagar University's Public Administration department has been recovered from a rented house in the Islampur area of Savar. The body was found on Sunday afternoon, March 15.

The deceased has been identified as Sharmin Jahan. She was a student of the university's 51st batch (2021-22 academic session) and lived with her husband Fahim Al Hasan in a rented house in Islampur.

According to her husband, when he returned home between approximately 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm, he found the main door locked from the outside. After entering through an alternative way, he found Sharmin lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Deep injury marks were visible on her head. Sharmin was rushed to Savar's Enam Medical College Hospital, but doctors declared her dead upon arrival.

Enam Medical College Hospital duty officer Yusuf Ali said Sharmin was brought to the hospital around 5:15 pm and was already dead. University Proctor Professor A K M Rashidul Alam and several students were present at the hospital and urged police to conduct a proper investigation.

Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rubel Hawladar said this is a murder case. The body has been sent to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy, and further information will be available after the post-mortem examination.
