Citing lack of coordination in performing duties and administrative interference, Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) Cultural Secretary Muhibullah Sheikh Jisan has resigned. He submitted his resignation letter to JUCSU President and University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan on Sunday. Earlier, he had announced his resignation through a post on social media.
Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have temporarily expelled a student over allegations of making adverse remarks on social media about the July uprising and of ties to the banned organization Chhatra League. A five-member committee has also been formed to investigate the allegations, and university authorities have filed a case against the accused student at Ashulia police station.
Professor Dr A.K.M. Rashidul Alam of the Department of Environmental Sciences has been relieved of his duties as proctor of Jahangirnagar University. Professor Dr Md Zakir Hossain of the Department of Philosophy has been appointed as the new proctor on an interim basis.

The Jahangirnagar University (JU) Senate has approved a budget of Tk 348.70 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year. However, no allocation has been made from the university's own revenue fund for research and innovation. The senate meeting also revealed that the university's accumulated revenue deficit has reached nearly Tk 100 crore.
