Jailed Prince Mamun now shown arrested in attempted suicide case

Abdullah Al Mamun, the controversial content creator better known as 'Prince Mamun' who is already in jail over dowry allegations, has now been shown as arrested in a case related to an alleged suicide attempt .

On Wednesday (July 29), the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam ordered him to be shown arrested in this new case following a petition by the investigating officer. He was subsequently sent back to jail . A previous court had rejected his bail petition in the dowry and domestic violence case, sending him to jail on July 24 .

According to the case statement, on the night of July 23, Prince Mamun went live on Facebook from his residence in Dhaka's Bhatara area and allegedly attempted to hang himself with a saree from a ceiling fan. During the live broadcast, he blamed his wife, Atikia Faizah Mohona, and her family members for his action.

The complainant, Mohona, alleged that she rushed to the residence with her parents after seeing the live broadcast and rescued him. He was later taken to Kurmitola General Hospital for primary treatment.

The court hearing, which had been scheduled for July 29, was held after the petition was filed by the investigation officer of the attempted suicide case. In addition to this new case, Prince Mamun is also in judicial custody while an investigation continues into the charges of dowry and physical abuse filed by his wife.
