Jamaat announces mayoral candidates for two Dhaka cities

Jamaat-e-Islami has declared Mohammad Selim Uddin, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan North, as the mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Sadiq Kayem, VP of DUCSU, as the mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

Party secretary general Mia Golam Porwar made the announcement at the Siratun Nabi (SAW) conference organized by National Doctors Forum Dhaka Metropolitan South at the Diploma Engineers Auditorium in the capital on Monday afternoon (September 14).

He said, “Even if we contest the national election in alliance, all parties will contest the local elections separately. Therefore, Jamaat’s two candidates have also been finalised keeping the two city corporation elections of Dhaka in view.”

Mia Golam Porwar said Mohammad Selim Uddin, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan North, will contest the Dhaka North City Corporation election and Sadiq Kayem, VP of DUCSU, will contest the Dhaka South City Corporation election.
