Jamaat extorting money in the name of Hadia, Yant: Rizvi
Jamaat-e-Islami is extorting money in the name of Hadia and Yant (voluntary donations), Prime Minister's Political Adviser and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged.
He made the remark at a discussion titled 'Zia to Resist Aggression' organised by JASAS at the National Press Club in the capital on Sunday, May 31.
"Jamaat practices politics of religion and has taken refuge in covert extortion. They are continuing extortion in the name of Hadia and Yant," Rizvi said.
He said after August 5, BNP has taken organisational action against those involved in extortion. "Jamaat thought they would come to power this time, so they have chosen this path."
The BNP leader said the people of this country are religious, but they do not want Jamaat's politics. "Jamaat is committing fraud by selling tickets to paradise using the name of religion."
"If anyone deliberately tries to destroy the culture originating from the soil of this country, the nationalist cultural organisation will resist it," Rizvi added.
