Leaders present included Jamaat Naib-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Ameer Mamunul Haque, NCP Convener Nahid Islam, and others.

A photograph of the meeting was later circulated on social media.

Islami Andolan said no final agreement had been reached yet and that talks were still ongoing.

Earlier in the day, Islami Andolan’s central publicity wing said in a statement that conditions were not yet ripe for a final agreement on seat-sharing, noting that multi-layered discussions were still ongoing. The party said political engagement among Islamist forces began in post-uprising Bangladesh based on shared principles, creating public expectations, but stressed that it was too early to make any definitive announcement.

The statement added that leaders were continuing bilateral and multilateral talks, and that Islami Andolan Bangladesh and other parties would formally inform the nation once a final position was reached.

Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB), the National Citizen Party (NCP) and eight other parties are currently engaged in negotiations over seat allocation. However, mistrust between Jamaat, Islami Andolan and Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis has reportedly been growing.

With the deadline for withdrawal of nominations set for January 20, uncertainty remains over whether a final consensus can be reached in time. A pre-scheduled press conference, which was expected to announce the final seat-sharing arrangement, was abruptly postponed on Wednesday, reportedly due to a lack of preparedness.
