The National Citizen Party (NCP) and Jamaat-e-Islami are reportedly in talks over seat-sharing arrangements ahead of upcoming elections.

Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar confirmed this to media.

According to a social media post by Abdul Kader, former coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement at Dhaka University, NCP initially demanded 50 seats but reportedly agreed to 30 seats in the final negotiations. Under the deal, NCP will not field candidates in the remaining 270 constituencies, instead supporting Jamaat’s nominees.

The post also stated that candidate finalisation for the 30 agreed seats will be handled jointly by NCP’s Nasir Uddin Patwari and Jamaat’s Abdullah Muhammad Taher.

NCP has not yet issued an official statement on the talks.
