Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-E-Ameer, ATM Azharul Islam, has warned that the party will launch larger protest programmes if US and Israeli attacks on Iran are not immediately halted.

Speaking at a protest rally at Baitul Mokarram on Sunday (March 1), ATM Azharul said the party organised an immediate demonstration in response to the ongoing situation and destruction in Iran.

He addressed Israel directly, saying, “Years ago, you carried out numerous killings. Back then, people across the world boycotted your products. If the public does it again, your business cannot continue. Do not force our people. Stop the attacks on Iran immediately, and the people will respond appropriately.”

ATM Azharul also urged the United Nations (UN) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to play their proper roles. He criticised the UN as serving the interests of a few powerful countries rather than peace-loving nations and said, “If the UN fulfilled its duties, people would see no need to question its relevance.”

On the OIC, he said, “The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation must act responsibly on behalf of the Muslim world. If it fails, the people will reject it. Prolonged instability in the Middle East will harm not only those countries but also Bangladesh and many others. Prices of goods and oil will rise, making daily life difficult for ordinary citizens.”
