Japan congratulates President Mirza Fakhrul
Japan has congratulated Bangladesh's newly sworn-in President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, expressing its readiness to work with the new president and government to further strengthen the two countries' strategic partnership.
The Japanese Embassy in Dhaka conveyed the message in a post on its verified Facebook page on Sunday (August 23).
Japan reaffirmed its commitment to standing firmly by Bangladesh as the country moves towards greater stability and prosperity.
It also expressed its intention to work closely with the new president and government to deepen the existing strategic partnership between the two countries.
The congratulatory message comes against the backdrop of longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Japan, with the two countries maintaining extensive cooperation in infrastructure, economic development and other areas.
Mirza Fakhrul was sworn in as Bangladesh's 23rd president at Bangabhaban on Friday evening. Several countries have since extended greetings to the newly elected president.
