Jatiya Party appoints Sunil Shubho Roy as Co-Chairman, Chairman's Spokesperson

Jatiya Party has appointed veteran leader Sunil Shubho Roy as a co-chairman of the party and spokesperson for its chairman, the party said in a statement on Sunday (August 23).

The appointment was made by Jatiya Party Chairman Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud under authority granted by the party's 10th National Council and on the recommendation of Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader, according to the statement.

Roy has long been involved in Jatiya Party politics. He previously served as press and political secretary to party founder and former president Hussain Muhammad Ershad and was also a member of the party's presidium.

The party said Roy's extensive political experience, organisational skills and longstanding contributions were taken into consideration in assigning him the new responsibilities.

As co-chairman, Roy is expected to contribute to strengthening the party's organisational activities. As the chairman's spokesperson, he will also be responsible for communicating the chairman's statements and the party's positions to the media.
