Jet fuel odor fills morgue air
During a visit to multiple hospitals in Dhaka, it was reported that 18 bodies have been placed in the morgue so far. Although their identities remain unclear, the on-duty police confirmed that the majority of the victims are children.
A visit to the morgues revealed that each body was stored in a body bag or HRP (human remains pouch), with a strong odor of jet fuel or aviation turbine fuel (ATF) emanating from them.
In the small restrooms near the morgue, heartbreaking scenes unfolded as grief-stricken parents mourned the loss of their children.
Nine-year-old victim Runa's mother, while crying, shared, "As soon as the plane crashed, jet fuel spread into the classroom, and that's when the children got burned."
Speaking with the officials on duty, they said that more information would be released by the authorities later, but for now, nothing could be confirmed.
Experts say that jet fuel flames can reach temperatures of 1,500-2,000 degrees Celsius in an open environment. This means that the temperature of a jet fuel fire is twice that of a normal fire. As a result, as soon as the plane crashes, this fuel comes into contact with the air, making the situation fatal.
