JnU issues notice to fill vacant seats in undergraduate admissions

Jagannath University (JnU) has issued a fresh circular to fill vacant seats in its 2025–26 academic year undergraduate (honours) and BBA first-year programmes.

The notice, signed by the respective dean and issued on Wednesday midnight, said admission will be completed from among candidates based on merit ranking from the entrance examination.

According to the circular, eligible applicants must provide online consent through the university admission portal between April 16 and April 19. Candidates who fail to submit consent within the deadline will not be considered further.

After completing the online consent process, selected candidates must appear at the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Arts and Law between 9:00am and 12:00pm on April 21, 2026, to complete admission formalities.

Seat vacancies

Under Unit B (Faculty of Arts and Law), 28 seats remain vacant, including:

Humanities: 22 seats
Science: 2 seats
Business and others: 4 seats

Vacancies exist in departments including Bengali, Islamic Studies, Philosophy, IML, Law, and Law & Land Administration.

Under Unit A, a total of 71 seats are vacant:

Mathematics: 19 seats
Geography and Environment: 23 seats
Psychology: 29 seats

Under Unit C (Faculty of Business Studies), 10 seats are vacant:

Management Studies (Business Studies group): 8 seats
Management Studies (Humanities group): 1 seat
Marketing (Business Studies group): 1 seat

Merit-based eligibility ranges

The university said only candidates within the specified merit ranges will be eligible:

Humanities: 1008–1228
Science: 216–256
Business and others: 111–131

Authorities said failure to complete the consent process and appear within the stipulated timeframe will result in cancellation of admission eligibility.
