Jagannath University (JnU) students continued their sit-in protest for the third consecutive day on Friday, pressing for their four-point demand.

However, in a move to reduce public inconvenience, the demonstrators shifted their location from the busy Kakrail intersection to the road leading to the Principal Adviser’s building.

As a result, traffic movement at Kakrail intersection resumed and remains normal.

From the morning, more than a hundred students and several teachers gathered at the new protest site, chanting slogans. Student Imtiaz told Views Bangladesh that they chose to relocate in consideration of the public. “We’ve moved to the side of the road to avoid causing suffering to commuters. However, more students are joining us, and a decision on whether to resume the blockade at Kakrail will be taken later,” he said.

Another student, Jayanta, confirmed that their scheduled rally would begin shortly, followed by a mass hunger strike after Friday prayers. He added that additional students were arriving at the protest site throughout the morning, many traveling by bus to join their peers.

Law enforcement agencies remain on alert in the area to monitor the situation and ensure public safety.

The students are protesting with four major demands: the introduction of housing scholarships for 70 percent of students, approval of a full university budget, implementation of a second campus, and an investigation into recent police attacks on students.
