Journalist Mozammel Babu's bail plea rejected
The High Court has rejected the bail plea of former Ekattor TV chief editor Mozammel Haque Babu in a murder case filed at the capital's Badda police station over the anti-discrimination student movement.
A bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher gave the verdict on Tuesday (May 5). As a result, his bail opportunity is closed for the time being.
Earlier, a bench of Justice ASM Abdul Mobin and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raja had issued a rule on his bail question, which was later resolved through a hearing.
Mozammel Haque Babu served as the former editor-in-chief of Ekattor TV. After the political changes of 2024, his name came up in various cases and he was imprisoned.
The report also said that after the change of government, he went into hiding and was later detained in the border area. Since then, he has been in jail and has been interrogated and remanded in multiple cases.
After this court ruling, how the case will proceed further now depends on the legal process.
