Journalists at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport alleged they were harassed by National Citizens Party (NCP) leaders and activists during a press conference on Thursday morning. In protest, they boycotted the event.

The incident occurred around 9:45am at the airport’s VIP gate, where BNP leader Humayun Kabir was briefing the media. According to journalists present, NCP leaders were loudly chanting slogans. When asked to stop, the NCP leaders allegedly confronted and harassed the journalists.

The press conference had been arranged to cover the return of Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, and his delegation from the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The delegation included BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Acting Chairman’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir, Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Amir Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, and NCP leaders Akhtar Hossain and Dr. Tasneem Jara.

After a nine-day visit to the United States, Professor Yunus and his team returned to Bangladesh today.
