Journey toward desired democracy begins: Prime Minister
The first session of the 13th National Parliament has begun with the post of President vacant. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman spoke after the proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
Paying tribute to all those who were martyred in various movements and struggles since 1971, he said that the journey of desired democracy in the country has begun from today.
The Prime Minister said that national leader Khaleda Zia fought for democracy until the last day of her life and never compromised with dictatorship or fascism. He expressed deep respect for Khaleda Zia. At the same time, he also paid tribute to former President Ziaur Rahman.
Tarique Rahman said that he represents all the people of the country regardless of party or opinion. The goal of BNP is to make every family self-reliant. In this way, the party wants to build a self-reliant Bangladesh. He sought everyone's cooperation in achieving this goal. The Prime Minister also commented that there should be no dispute on the question of building a self-reliant Bangladesh.
Tarique Rahman proposed the name of Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain to preside over the parliament session. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir fully supported the proposal.
