JS session adjourned till July 7

The sitting of the 2nd session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad(budget session of 2026) has been adjourned till 3pm on July 7.

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir-Bikram made the announcement at 6.20 pm on Tuesday.

Before the adjournment, Jatiya Sangsad passed a Tk 9,38,000 crore national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, which outlines BNP-led government’s roadmap toward a humane economy targeting 6.5 percent growth and 7.5 percent inflation.

The budget for the next fiscal year has also set targets to build an investment-led economy to spur employment that ultimately supports Bangladesh's ambition of reaching a $1 trillion economy.

This was the maiden budget for the Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury after BNP formed the government this time following a landslide victory on February 12 general election. A BNP-led government had last presented its national budget for the fiscal year 2006-'07 under then Finance Minister M. Saifur Rahman.
