Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna accused sections of the media of running a "planned smear campaign" against the organisation, claiming recent reports linking the party to various incidents were false and published without proper verification.

Speaking at a press conference at Hotel Victory in Nayapaltan on Wednesday (July 8), Munna dismissed reports of disorder during a recent party programme, insisting no confrontation had taken place.

"We have seen false and exaggerated reports published without verifying the facts. We urge the media to ensure accuracy before reporting," he said.

The press conference was organised to address the country's political situation and outline the organisation's future plans.

Munna said Jubo Dal has intensified its organisational activities following the announcement of its full central executive committee and is forming organisational teams to strengthen leadership at district and upazila levels.

He also claimed the organisation has continued to conduct rallies, public meetings and outreach programmes through peaceful and democratic means.

Highlighting the party's role in last year's mass movement, Munna said 78 Jubo Dal activists were killed and more than 100 were left permanently disabled during the July-August protests.

He added that disciplinary action had already been taken against members involved in activities contrary to the organisation's principles, including expulsions and legal measures. He also highlighted Jubo Dal's social initiatives, including bridge construction, canal excavation and other community development programmes.

Jubo Dal General Secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan and other senior leaders were present at the briefing.
