Voting for the Jahangirnagar University Central Student Union (JUCSU) and hall student union elections began on Thursday at 9 am. However, an issue regarding the ballot paper was raised at the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall.

The controversy centers on the executive member position, where voters were supposed to select three candidates. However, the ballot paper instructions stated that only one candidate should be marked with a tick.

Ujjal Kumar Mondal, the polling officer at the hall, confirmed that the issue was brought to the attention of the election commission. He added that students were informed about the correct procedure and were advised that voting for all three candidates was valid.

This year’s election has a total of 11,743 registered voters, including 5,728 female and 6,015 male voters. A total of 177 candidates are contesting for 25 posts.
