Candidates from the Chhatra Dal panel have raised serious allegations of ballot tampering in the ongoing JUCSU elections, claiming that ballots supplied by a company linked to Jamaat-e-Islami are being used to manipulate the results.

At a press conference held on Thursday at 12:30 pm in Maulana Bhashani Hall, VP candidate Sheikh Saadi Hasan accused the Election Commission of procuring ballot papers and OMR machines from an obscure company associated with Jamaat-e-Islami without following proper procurement procedures.

Sheikh Saadi further alleged that after reports surfaced regarding attempts to rig votes in favor of Chhatra Shibir during the counting process, the Election Commission, under pressure from teachers and students, decided to switch from electronic OMR counting to manual vote counting. Despite this change, the elections are still being conducted using ballot papers from the same controversial company.

“We believe Chhatra Shibir has obtained separate ballots from this company and is orchestrating a plan to secure victory through fraud,” Sheikh Saadi said. “When we informed the Election Commission and demanded the introduction of new ballot papers, our requests were rejected. The Commission has instead decided to continue using ballots from Jamaat’s company. We strongly condemn this biased conduct and call for impartiality in the electoral process.”

He also expressed concern over reports that numerous Jamaat-Shibir activists are stationed around the campus, creating an atmosphere of fear among ordinary students.

Voting for the JUCSU elections began today at 9 am and will continue until 5 pm. A total of 178 candidates are contesting 25 posts, including 9 candidates for Vice President, 9 for General Secretary, 6 for Joint General Secretary (Women), and 10 for Joint General Secretary (Men).
