Jamaat-e-Islami nayeb-e-ameer Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has said the next national election will be questionable if held without implementing the July charter.

Speaking to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday, October 7, after returning from a UN trip, Dr Taher said there is no fear about the February election itself, but stressed that reforms must precede it.

He warned that any delay in polls caused by those obstructing reforms would be their responsibility.

Dr Taher was among six political leaders from three parties who accompanied chief adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus to the 80th UN General Assembly. After his 13-day trip, he was welcomed at the airport by party leaders and activists.

Calling the participation of political leaders in the UN delegation unprecedented, he said it showed Bangladesh is united on national issues. He also highlighted meetings with non-resident Bangladeshis in the US, noting that ensuring their voting rights was a key agenda.
