July Charter to be announced soon: Ali Riaz
National Consensus Commission Vice‑Chairman Prof. Dr. Ali Riaz announced that the July National Charter is nearing completion, pending final consultations with political parties and policy experts.
Speaking at a press briefing in Parliament’s LD Hall this Friday morning (August 8), Ali Riaz shared key milestones in the process:
Draft shared with political parties on July 28, with feedback now received.
A full version of the draft will be circulated again to parties within days, followed by dedicated discussions next week.
A meeting with experts is already scheduled to plan the implementation strategy, with further talks to follow involving political representatives.
He expressed optimism that the final charter will be issued shortly, and emphasized that work on implementation would proceed without delay.
On questions about the upcoming national election, Ali Riaz maintained: “Drafting a national charter is our mandate—not determining the electoral timeline, which rests with the government after party consultations.”
