July records 36 dengue deaths, 9,206 cases

Dengue cases have surged alarmingly in July, claiming 36 lives in a single month. A total of 9,206 patients were hospitalised with dengue during this period. According to the Directorate General of Health Services, July has recorded the highest number of cases and deaths compared to other months this year, and authorities fear the trend may worsen.

In the last 24 hours, one person has died from dengue, bringing the total deaths in July to 36 and the overall death toll for the year to 54.

According to the DGHS, 153 new dengue cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of patients infected this year to 15,310.

Month-wise breakdown shows that January and February each recorded two deaths, May recorded one, June recorded 13, and July has seen 36 deaths. No dengue deaths were reported in March and April.

July also saw the highest number of infections with 9,206 cases, compared to June's 2,907 cases. In comparison, January recorded 1,081 cases, February 409, March 353, April 640, and May 714 cases.
