Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the July uprising was not just a movement, but a struggle to stand against injustice and establish truth and justice. He said the uprising united the aspirations of the masses and gave the nation a new direction.

He made the remarks on Saturday (September 20) while inaugurating graffiti murals titled “July Birotto” and “July Attotyag” on the Mawa end of the Padma Bridge in Louhajang, Munshiganj, commemorating the martyrs of the July student-people’s uprising.

He added that the spirit, sacrifice, and bravery of the July uprising must be spread among the next generation, inspiring youth with ideals of truth, justice, freedom, and democracy.

The Bangladesh Bridge Authority and the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges initiated the murals on both ends of the Padma Bridge — Mawa in Munshiganj and Jazira in Shariatpur — to preserve the heroic legacy of the July uprising.
