This year's Junior Scholarship Examination has been brought forward by several days, with the nationwide test now set to begin on December 8 instead of the previously scheduled December 15.

The examination will continue until December 15.

The revised schedule was finalised at a meeting of the Dhaka Education Board held on August 6. Under the new timetable, the scholarship examination for Class Eight students will be held over four days.

According to the revised schedule, the Bangla examination will be held on December 8, followed by English on December 10 and Mathematics on December 13. The final examination, covering Science and Bangladesh and Global Studies, will take place on December 15.

All education boards across the country will follow the same schedule.

Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman confirmed the revision, saying the new dates were finalised after discussion at the board meeting.

The Education Ministry's academic calendar had earlier scheduled the examination from December 15 to 20, with December 30 set as the tentative date for publication of results. While the examination dates have now been revised, no new date for the results has been announced.

Students will be assessed on a total of 400 marks for the merit and general scholarship categories. Bangla, English and Mathematics will each carry 100 marks, with three hours allotted for each examination.

Science and Bangladesh and Global Studies will carry 50 marks each, making a combined 100 marks. Students will have a total of three hours to complete the examination in these two subjects.
