Justice Farah Mahbub appointed BJSC chairman
Justice Farah Mahbub of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has been appointed Chairperson of the Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission (BJSC).
The appointment was made by presidential order and confirmed through a gazette notification issued on Wednesday (January 21) by the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
The ministry said the appointment takes immediate effect, in line with the Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission Rules.
Justice Farah Mahbub holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Dhaka. She began her legal career as a district court lawyer in 1992, was enrolled with the High Court Division in 1994, and with the Appellate Division in 2002.
She was appointed an additional judge of the High Court Division on August 23, 2004, and became a permanent judge on August 23, 2006. She later took oath as a judge of the Appellate Division on March 25, 2025.
Justice Farah Mahbub was born on May 27, 1966.
