Kazakhstan offers Bangladesh to import diesel at a lower rate
Bangladesh has received a proposal to import diesel at a lower price from Kazakhstan amid an ongoing fuel shortage linked to Middle East tensions, a senior official said Wednesday (April 1).
Monir Hossain Chowdhury, joint secretary (Operations) of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, said Kazakhstan has offered to supply diesel at $76 per barrel, with a potential volume of around 100,000 metric tons.
“We are receiving multiple proposals for fuel imports. There is no issue in purchasing at a lower price, but proper procedures must be completed to ensure supply,” he said.
The government is currently evaluating the offer as part of efforts to stabilise the country’s fuel supply.
