Keeping domestic fuel prices unchanged despite a rise in global oil prices is a major success for the government, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said. He also informed that the government is keeping fuel prices stable through subsidies to ensure agricultural production during the Boro season.

Speaking to journalists after the government parliamentary party meeting on Saturday night, March 28, the home minister said the government's main focus is to keep electricity and fertiliser supply normal to sustain agricultural production. While many countries have closed educational institutions due to fuel conservation, Bangladesh has managed to avoid this through careful planning.

On preventing smuggling, the home minister said strict instructions have been given to relevant ministries to increase surveillance along borders and related areas, as fuel prices remain lower in the country.

Additionally, the special committee formed to review 133 ordinances has held two meetings. The committee's next meeting will be held on Sunday at 8:30 pm, with plans to present the final report in parliament on April 2.

The minister further said the Prime Minister has instructed MPs to inform the public about progress in implementing election manifesto pledges. The role of BNP MPs in discussions on the President's address, as well as the government's achievements and challenges within a short time, were also discussed at the meeting.
