Khairul Islam appointed new VC of Shahjalal University

Professor Dr Md Khairul Islam has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.

A notification to this effect was issued by the Science and Technology University Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education on Saturday, May 23. The notification was signed by Assistant Secretary Md Shah Alam Siraj.

The notification stated that the appointment has been made with the approval of the Honourable President and Chancellor under Section 11(1) of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Act, 1987 .

Professor Dr Khairul Islam is currently serving as the head of the Business Administration Department at the university. He has also served as the former dean of the School of Management and Business Administration.

According to the notification, his tenure as Vice-Chancellor will be four years from the date of his joining, or until his retirement date, whichever comes earlier. During his term, he will receive pay and allowances equivalent to his current position along with other benefits as per rules.

The notification also stated that as the chief executive officer of the university, he must reside on campus full-time.
