Khaleda Zia on elective ventilator support

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is being treated with advanced antibiotics and antifungal drugs after she was diagnosed with a serious infection, the medical board formed to treat her said.

In a statement on Thursday, the medical board said that recent tests have found several complications, including increased breathing difficulty and decreased oxygen levels in her blood.

As her condition did not improve, she was put on elective ventilator support to rest her lungs and other organs. In addition, it was reported that her dialysis has also started as her kidney function has stopped.

The statement also said that a medical board consisting of local and foreign experts is closely monitoring Khaleda Zia's physical condition. It has also been urged not to spread speculative or incorrect information about her treatment.

She has been admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka since she went to the hospital for a health check-up on November 23. She was admitted to the critical care unit on November 27 when his condition deteriorated. Since then, a medical board comprising local and foreign experts has been managing his treatment.
