BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to be taken to Evercare Hospital for urgent medical tests. She will be taken from her Gulshan residence, Firoza, to the hospital at around 7 pm on Sunday, November 23. Shamsuddin Didar, an official at the BNP Chairperson’s media wing, said that the former prime minister is being taken to Evercare Hospital for several emergency examinations following the decision of the medical board. BNP Standing Committee member and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain has confirmed the hospital transfer. Didar did not specify whether Khaleda Zia would return home after the tests or remain admitted. BNP has announced Khaleda Zia as its candidate for three constituencies, including Feni-1, in the upcoming national election.

বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন ও সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী খালেদা জিয়াকে স্বাস্থ্য পরীক্ষার জন্য আজ রোববার সন্ধ্যায় হাসপাতালে নেওয়া হচ্ছে। দলীয় সূত্রে জানা গেছে, সন্ধ্যা ৬টার পর গুলশানের বাসভবন ‘ফিরোজা’ থেকে তিনি এভারকেয়ার হাসপাতালের উদ্দেশে রওনা দিয়েছেন। চেয়ারপারসনের ব্যক্তিগত চিকিৎসক ও বিএনপির স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য এ জেড এম জাহিদ হোসেন বলেন, খালেদা জিয়ার নিয়মিত কিছু শারীরিক জটিলতার ফলোআপ পরীক্ষার প্রয়োজন রয়েছে। সেই কারণেই তাকে হাসপাতালে নেওয়া হচ্ছে। হঠাৎ কোনো জটিলতার সৃষ্টি হয়নি। গত কয়েক বছর ধরে লিভারসহ বেশ কিছু দীর্ঘস্থায়ী শারীরিক সমস্যায় ভুগছেন খালেদা জিয়া। চিকিৎসকদের তত্ত্বাবধানে তিনি নিয়মিত পরীক্ষা–নিরীক্ষা করিয়ে থাকেন। দলীয় নেতারা বলছেন, এটি মূলত নির্ধারিত সময়ের নিয়মিত স্বাস্থ্য পরীক্ষা। হাসপাতালে পৌঁছানোর পর প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী চিকিৎসকেরা তার বিভিন্ন পরীক্ষা করবেন।
