Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain to take charges of Health Ministry

The newly elected members of the parliament have taken oath after the 13th National Parliament elections while the cabinet members will take oath in the afternoon.

Sources said Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee, will take charges of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry in the new cabinet.

Mosharraf Hossain was elected from Cumilla-1 (Daudkandi-Meghna) constituency. Earlier, he served as the Health and Family Welfare Minister during the four-party alliance government from 2001 to 2006.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath to the newly elected members of parliament at the swearing-in hall of the National Parliament Building at 10:45 am on Tuesday. Later, they signed the oath book.

The new cabinet members will formally take the oath at 4 pm at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building. According to unofficial results of the election, BNP won 209 of the 297 seats, while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 68. The National Citizens Party (NCP) won 6 seats, and independent candidates won 7 seats.
