Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment and Labour and Employment Minister, Ariful Chowdhury, left Dhaka on Friday to attend the 356th Governing Body meeting of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland.

He departed on a Turkish Airlines flight Friday morning and is scheduled to arrive in Geneva around 5:30pm (local time) after a brief stopover in Istanbul.

During the session, the minister and the Prime Minister’s adviser Mahdi Amin—who will arrive in Geneva on Friday—will participate in the ILO’s main plenary and hold bilateral meetings with labour ministers and senior officials from various countries.

Other members of Bangladesh’s delegation, including Secretary Md Abdur Rahman Tarafdar, Additional Secretary Fahmida Akhtar, Joint Secretary Md. Abdus Samad Al Azad, and Deputy Secretary Israt Jahan Keya, have already reached Geneva and begun attending the sessions.

The delegation will highlight Bangladesh’s initiatives in labour sector development, job creation, and implementation of international labour standards.

The team is scheduled to return to Dhaka on April 4.
