Labour Party registered, symbol assigned as Pineapple
The Labour Party has officially been registered as a political party following a court directive.
The Election Commission (EC) handed over the registration certificate on Thursday (September 25), assigning Pineapple as the party’s electoral symbol.
With this, the total number of registered parties stands at 52. The registration process, introduced ahead of the 2008 general election, has seen 56 parties recognised over time, though five later lost registration due to non-compliance or court orders.
While parties like Jamaat-e-Islami and Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (Jagpa) regained registration through legal challenges, the EC has so far reinstated only Jamaat’s registration.
