Fakir Lalon Sai has been described as a unique bridge of friendship between Bangladesh and India by Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Dinesh Trivedi, who said the timeless philosophy of the revered spiritual thinker symbolises secularism and humanity.

He made the remarks on Saturday (October 31) while addressing a programme titled ‘Lalon Sandhya’, organised by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.

Expressing his deep admiration for Lalon’s philosophy and music, Trivedi said he did not consider himself qualified to engage in an in-depth discussion of Lalon Sai’s teachings. However, after reading a little about him, he felt that Lalon was someone close to his heart. His words and philosophy, he added, hold equal significance for all people.

The Indian high commissioner said Lalon had captivated people across generations and that his philosophy had even inspired Rabindranath Tagore. Lalon Sai, he said, represents a unique bond between Bangladesh and India and remains an enduring beacon of humanity for people in both countries.

Following the discussion, artistes performed Lalon songs, captivating the audience at the auditorium. They also called on people to embrace love for humanity, drawing inspiration from Lalon Sai’s ideals.
