Law and order has improved, but public expectations unmet: Home Minister
The country's law and order situation has improved, but public expectations have not yet been fully met, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed. "The people will judge whether law and order has improved in the 180 days of the government. However, meeting public expectations will take more time," he said.
He made the remarks to journalists at the Secretariat on Monday after a meeting of the committee reviewing the Judicial Service Pay Commission report.
On the Al-Qaeda question, the Home Minister said, "The UN report is based on assumptions. We are not taking such assumption-based reports into consideration."
He said the government is planning to build a land-based LNG terminal at the Matarbari deep-sea port to ensure future energy security and maintain reserves.
He also said the country's domestic gas demand can be met from domestic sources within the next few years.
