'Law enforcement vigilant before polls, mob threats reduced'
Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that mob activities in the country have decreased compared to previous years. While the law and order situation has not yet reached the ideal level, the government is making persistent efforts to improve the situation.
Speaking at a briefing at the Secretariat on Monday, Chowdhury assured the public there is no reason to panic around August 5, stressing that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant ahead of the upcoming elections.
He added that, considering the current political environment, additional security has been provided to political parties deemed to be at higher risk. The elections will be conducted under the supervision of the police force.
