A legal notice has been sent demanding proper measures to stop the irregular and illegal hoisting, display, and use of the national flag at the offices of government and autonomous institutions.

The notice calls for steps to ban the use of the national flag as a decorative item on desks and walls in government and statutory offices, as well as placing it behind chairs and sofas used by government officials. It demands that necessary actions be taken regarding the matter within three days of receiving the notice.

The respondents named in the legal notice include the Cabinet Secretary, the Secretary of the Coordination and Reform Division and Additional Secretary (District and Field Administration) of the Cabinet Division, the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Inspector General of Police.

Confirming the matter of the legal notice, Barrister H. M. Sanjid Siddiqui stated that in the office rooms of various government and autonomous institutions, folded national flags are being placed on low stands behind officials' chairs or sofas. Similarly, the national flag is also being used as a decorative item on tables in various offices.

He noted that such usage undermines the dignity and honor of the national flag, and specific laws and rules must be followed when utilizing it.

Barrister Sanjid Siddiqui further mentioned that Rule 6 of the Flag Rules contains provisions regarding the use of the national flag on important government buildings and offices. Even if the national flag is used inside office rooms, prescribed regulations must be followed, along with strict adherence to the specified guidelines for the flag's size, proportion, and color.

The legal notice urges the relevant authorities to properly enforce these regulations and take swift action to halt the improper use of the national flag.
